Amelia Bates loved books. They were an escape to different places and lives. She was able to immerse herself in a different world, somewhere she wasn't different from everyone else. It was why she loved libraries, those buildings teeming with various stories to entice. She was excited to interview at a library on Prince Edward Island, but surprised at how easily she was hired. Not that she was going to complain.
Working at the library was everything she wanted, except for the three resident ghosts. Seeing ghosts wasn't something new. Amelia had always had this ability and prided herself on not interacting with them. She also didn't want to ruin this opportunity. She wasn't good with interacting with people, but soon was befriending the librarian who hired her, crushing on the head librarian, Simon, and trying to find a way to save the ghosts and the library itself.
The Haunted Library was an absolute delight. Amelia was an intriguing character, and I would be curious to learn more about her in a future story. She had to teach herself about ghosts and it was fascinating to see how her time at the library changed her understanding of them. I loved watching her relationships change with each ghost and also with her own growth. It was also charming to see Simon and her stumble into a relationship together.
