Paranormal Romance

Jake Huang had moved to DC with his small pack, Zoe and Chloe, twin eighteen year old beta werewolves. He had rescued them after their parents were murdered. They had all agreed he should take this new opportunity to work for STAT, where he could fully utilize his alpha werewolf abilities on supernatural cases. His new team included both werewolves and non. One was a woman whose teammates had just possibly been murdered by werewolves.

Jestina Ridley knew she was lucky to have not been killed by the monster whose eyes had glowed yellow. She wasn't happy to join a team with three werewolves. She wasn't sure she could trust any of them after what she had seen, but she quickly realizes her prejudice. Even if it was a werewolf, that didn't mean she couldn't rely on Jake and the others. It had nothing to do with the growing yearning she felt for Jake.

Jake knew their priority was their assignment to rescue a kidnapped teen. The whole team needed to learn how to work as a cohesive unit, learn each other's strengths and weaknesses. They had to uncover the truth of what and who was behind the attacks and the kidnapping, and try to survive. Only then Jake could approach Jes about the not quite a myth of her being The One for him.

Wolf Under Fire is an action packed international adventure with a fascinating new team, a supernatural mystery, and romance. Jake and Jes are equal parts tough and tender. Willing to face both the danger and their emotions. I loved Jake's care of the twins, and his willingness to face rejection from Jes. Jes was a fighter, willing to fight for the vulnerable, and for her love for Jake. They are the perfect match. Although Jake and the twins had been introduced in the SWAT series, and it is in the same world, this new series does stand on its own. Wolf Under Fire is a brilliant introduction to the new STAT: Special Threat Assessment Team series, and I eagerly await the next.
