Blaze of Memory

Psy-Changeling Series - Book 9

By Nalini Singh

Berkley Sensation - November 2009

Paranormal Romance

This review assumes that the reader has read the previous stories in Nalini Singh's Psy-Changeling series, and does contain spoilers to prior books. Although it can stand on its own, I highly suggest reading the series in order.

When Devraj Santos found a badly beaten woman dumped on his door step, he knew it was just another step in a silent war. As director of the Shine Foundation, he was responsible with protecting the Forgotten. They had initially been a nuisance, but now they were considered a threat, and there were others who were now equally determined to eradicate them.

He knew that the woman was a threat, but he also couldn't ignore the torture this woman had endured, and the fact that she too was a victim. She was Psy, and her very presence could threaten everything. She had amnesia, but others knew who she was. She had been in Silence, but she had been broken, and now was free of Silence. She had once been someone else, but now she was Katya Haas. She feared what programming may have been done to her, but was determined not to harm others.

Dev and Katya had been fighting for others for years. Now they must fight for themselves. They will have to battle both enemies and allies, and overcome their own limitations for a future together.

I was thrilled to learn that Blaze of Memory would be Dev's story. Not only had he been an intriguing character, but I wanted to learn more about the Forgotten. I had high expectations, and they were exceeded. I was even more thrilled when I learned who Katya was. Blaze of Memory was a thrilling read, and delved deep into the world and history of the Forgotten. I enjoyed the interaction with the changelings. I absolutely cannot wait for the next story in this series.
