The Book Witch

Fantasy

As a Book Witch, Rainy March was duty bound to follow the rules which basically meant people stayed in the real world, characters stayed in their books, and only when necessary to protect the book did the Book Witch go into a book to save it. There were more rules to follow that kept both a book witch and the books safe, but the most basic of these rules kept Rainy from the man she loved.

The Duke of Chicago had been just as captivating when she met him in his book as he had been on the pages of his books she had read. They’d had a year together before they’d been separated. Now Rainy feared they’d be apart forever.

Unless she could be like the character Nancy Drew, the girl detective of the only book Rainy’s mother had left her. Perhaps they could find a way despite the rules forbidding them. But the more she, Duke, and her familiar Koshka investigate, the more questions arise. About the year her mother had been missing. The book she’d been left. And now her grandfather’s disappearance.

The Book Witch was an absolute delight to read. I loved the idea of witches being able to pop into books, and how they go in with their umbrella is so unique. I won't spoil mentioning the familiar's special skill, but I adored Koshka. It was so much fun to watch Rainy figure out how to utilize stories and then "see" the characters. I just loved the idea of these characters having lives in the margins of the books.
