Sweet Historical Western Romance

Jack Willets hadn't been actively looking for a wife. Men far outnumbered women, and he wasn't going to send for one. But the moment he saw Victoria, he just knew she was the one for him. But he needed to court her. She was a city girl and he lived on a ranch. He had a big, boisterous family that could be daunting. He would court her, introduce her to his home and family, and hope she would accept his suit.

Victoria Milford had come to Washington as a mail-order bride only to discover her prospective groom was marrying another. Although better to not marry than have an unhappy marriage, there weren't many options for a single lady. Luckily, the minister and his wife had taken her in, but it was only temporary. She needed to find a husband, or a position. But she wouldn't settle for any husband. Several men vied for her attention, but Jack was the only man whose attention she seeked. He was a hard worker, volunteered to help build the church, and loved his family.

She knew he saw her as good fit for his life, but she wanted it all. She wanted his love.

Leftover Mail-Order Bride was an endearing romance. Although I've known and read about mail-order brides, I never considered that there might have been women who arrived but didn't have the groom waiting for them. Granted there would have been many men available, their options still were limited. I enjoyed watching as Victoria took charge of her current circumstances. Jack was a wonderful hero to his town, family and her. I love returning to Ms Scott's stories set in the Washington Territory and look forward to the next one.
