No Place Like You
Oaks Sisters Series - Book 2
By Jillian Meadows
Avon - March 2026
Contemporary Romance
Unlike her successful, have their lives in order, sisters, Fable Oaks felt she had peaked in high school. Perhaps that success could be due to the constant competition between her and her former best friend Theo Nikolaou. She had finally returned home and was trying to restore her beloved late grandfather's home. Luckily she had a job at the local hardware store, and knew she always had the support of her family. This, however, was something she needed to do on her own. But like everything else in her life, it wasn't going as planned.
Theo had left town, but had returned home. He was working at the local veterinary, loved his job, and was here to stay. He was hoping to buy into the clinic, but was surprised to learn he was excluded from consideration. Arthur, the owner, wanted to only sell to someone who was a permanent part of the community. Theo had left. What would keep him from leaving again? Theo knew he had to convince his boss he was settled, and when Arthur heard a false rumor that Theo and Fable were dating, Theo decided not to correct him.
He just had to convince his ex-best friend that fake dating was in the best of both of their interests. Luckily, Fable needed a helping hand with the house, and Theo had the experience to make her agree.
No Place Like You was a fun reunion romance of two people who still care for one another, but have kept apart for years. It was fun to watch their sniping at one another turn to respect and eventually love. They both have challenges to overcome, and it was nice to see them support each other. I enjoyed the secondary characters and their individual stories. Although her family was part of the story, I didn't realize this was a sequel until after I had finished, so it does stand completely on its own.
