Witches of Dubious Origin

Ace - Oct 2025
Fantasy
Zoe Ziakas had promised her mother that she wouldn't use her magic. And she had kept that promise after her mother disappeared from her life. She was a librarian and lived a simple quiet life. That was until after her mother died, when a book appeared with a note in her mother's handwriting. When the book followed her home, Zoe knew there was something magical about the mysterious book. So she headed with the book to the Museum of Literature.
There with the team that works with the most dangerous Books of Dubious Origin, Zoe begins to learn the truth of her family and the book that was passed down through generations. Zoe wants to honor her promise to her mother, but as she begins to be hunted by various dead beings, Zoe realizes she will need every weapon in her arsenal to defeat the necromancer who is after her.
Witches of Dubious Origin was an adventure from beginning to end. Reminiscent of The Librarian with a witchy twist, there is a cast of engaging characters, scary villains, chases, escapes, ghosts, and more. It was fascinating to follow Zoe on her journey as she learned about her heritage. The mystery of who was after her persisted through the pages as a viking, pirates, and more gave chase. There is a light romance that I also enjoyed. I would love to revisit this world again.
