Christmas at Coventry Arcade: Where Wishes Come True

Short Story in Home For the Holidays Anthology

By Becke Martin

2012

Contemporary Romance

Ben Whitaker had lost almost everything due to his business partner, but he still had his love, his wife Lily. He wished he could give her what he used to, but now they barely managed to scrape together enough money for rent. He wanted to give her something extra special for Christmas, and when he sees the perfect gift, he knows it will cost him something he had held dear.

Lily loved her husband, and even though times were tougher, there was nowhere else she would rather be. Thankfully, everything was suddenly starting to look brighter, and when she decides to go Christmas shopping for Ben, she finds the one item that she knows would mean so much to him. They may live in a small apartment, and not have any money to spare, but this was going to be their best Christmas ever.

Christmas at Coventry Arcade is a touching romance of a couple whose love has overcome all hardships placed in their way. A new twist on the O Henry classic The Gift of the Magi, this is a sweet glimpse in the lives of a couple whose love will stand strong forever. It may have been short, but it was perfect.
