The Daystar

A Templar Vampires Romance - Book 2

By Rene Lyons

Samhain Publishing - November 2006

Vampire Romance

Constantine Draegon had never known love, peace, or even true happiness. The horrors he had experienced during his life and death had left both emotional and physical scars. It was the threat that his actions could damn both him and his fellow Templar Vampires that kept him in line. Constantine may be apathetic, but he wasn't stupid. He was also smart enough to know that he should stay far away from Lexine Parker so he couldn't contaminate her purity.

Lex had been living at Seacrest with her sister Allie, Allie's Templar mate Sebastian, and the rest of the Templar Vampires for over a month. In that time, the guys had become her family. Yet there was one who haunted her dreams, and invaded her thoughts during the day. Constantine - who was as standoffish as they come, dressed goth, and wore his scars for the world to see. She wanted to heal his soul, but he kept pushing her away.

When a supernatural force threatens to take Lexine away from all of them, Constantine realizes that they both must make a decision. He'll keep her safe, but Lex must realize that once she becomes the Dragon's woman, there's no turning back.

So far, Rene Lyons's Templar Vampires series is exactly what I want in a paranormal series. What more can I say? I love each of the Templars, and eagerly await the rest of the series. I love the interaction between the characters, although I wish there had been more in this one. The Daystar touched all of my emotions, from the horror at learning what Constantine endured as a child, to the terror of the Templars' deaths, to the heat-tugging of his fear of tainting Lexine with himself, to the satisfaction of a perfect Happily-Ever-After. Technically, you can read this book on its own, but I recommend reading Midnight Sun first.
