The Scoundrel in Her Bed

Sins for All Seasons Series - Book 3

By Lorraine Heath

Avon - March 2019

Historical Romance

Lady Lavinia Kent had escaped the destiny she had been born into. Instead of marrying the man her father had chosen as part of a land deal, she had run away from the marriage she didn't want and now lived with nuns. Not as a nun, but she rescued children from baby farms and brought them there to be educated, raised, and cared for. The young man she had met years earlier may have abandoned her, but he had left her with the knowledge of what happened to these children, and she had decided to dedicate her life to helping others.

Finn Trewlove knew about baby farms, and betrayal. He and his siblings, only one of which was a blood relative, had been sold to the woman who became their mother. He knew they had been lucky. But although he had been lucky in life, he hadn't been lucky in love. When he discovers Lavinia one night, he realizes that although he has cause to hate her, he only wants to help and protect her.

And when they learn that they had both been deceived and kept apart, Lavinia acknowledges that they are now different people, and that what they had can never be recaptured. Time and experience have changed them. Finn agrees, at least verbally to placate her. But he will use everything at his disposal to win her once again.

The Scoundrel in Her Bed is a moving reunion story certain to please. Although flashbacks tend to pull me out of a story, the ones in this story were imperative to understand the past relationship between Lavinia and Finn. Readers of Ms Heath's Sins for All Seasons series would have suspected that this would be a reunion story, but she surpassed all expectations for me. I loved the interaction of Lavinia with the nuns and their dedication to helping the less fortunate. I enjoyed the robust cast of characters and visiting with previous couples, and learning more about those who hopefully will have stories of their own. But most of all, I was so happy to watch the journey Lavinia and Finn made back to one another. It doesn't need to be said, but I definitely am looking forward to the next story in this series.
