Tessa Michels was looking forward to a promotion at work. When her boss named a newer, inept, male, employee she decided to make a change. She and her two best friends seemed to be living their lives in a rut. As the remaining members of a book club, they read books about heroines who took control of their lives and destinies, so she decided it was time they did that too.

Gone was the Tessa who picked up after everyone at work and stayed late hours. She would now excel with her clients instead of wearing herself out doing the work of others. She would have a proper work-life balance.

And she insisted her friends do so too. Kate was an influencer who no longer lived the life she was "influencing". Hallie worked a job she hated and was soon to marry someone they all could tell she wasn't interested in marrying.

As they all start to make changes in their lives, chaos ensues.

Book Club Confidential was an intriguing concept I was interested in. At the beginning of the book, Tessa believes her life is going in one direction only to have her future ripped from her. It was wonderful to see her stand up for herself. There is also a bit of a romance that was nice. The book is in her point of view, but the readers learn what is happening with Kate and Hallie. It is easy to see how as an influencer, Kate had gotten stuck having to show a life she no longer lived. However with Hallie, it was obvious she should break off her engagement immediately, yet she continues all the way to almost leaving him at the alter.
