Science Fiction Romance

Prince Rornn B'lenne was lucky to have been third born. Instead of having royal obligations, he was able to leave his home planet whose people rarely had conflict or wars. He had even pursued his own dreams and signed up to be a Space Forces starfighter pilot. There, he had met the one woman he wished to call his own. Unfortunately, she continually, and quite firmly, kept him in best friend category.

Starfighter pilot Trysh Milton had it bad for her best friend. Rornn was everything a woman would want in a man, except that he seemed to have an eye on every woman. He delivered a good line, and regardless of how much her heart yearned to trust his words, she knew from experience how words could be lies. Her mother had trusted her father's words, but the man was dedicated only to his career, family, and a life without Trysh.

Puppy had escaped bad Tall Ones, but had finally found a couple of Tall Ones that he liked. His Rornn and His Trysh thought he was like canines from Trysh's home world of Earth, but he and his kind were smarter. Sometimes, he seemed to be smarter than his two Tall Ones as he knew that they should be together, but they weren't. That was okay, he was with them now and could help them.

A Best Friends romance where the hero is oh-so-in-love with his heroine, they rescue a puppy, and the story is part of a benefit anthology. The Prince, the Pilot, and the Puppy had the perfect recipe for my favorite type of romance. Poor Rornn. His mannerisms and comments were often misconstrued by Trysh. And the harder he tried, the more she laughed off his attempts. I truly enjoyed this lovely romance.
