Harlow Frye loved the life she had created for herself in the small town of Knightly. She worked as a surgical and trauma nurse but she'd made her home into her personal sanctuary. She could walk the woods on her property with her beagle or swing on her porch swing and enjoy the scenery. She had made a core group of friends but had many other friends in the community. Everything would be perfect except for the threats, unexplained deaths, and her parents.
Life was nothing like the lie she had grown up with. Her father’s political influence allowed him to get away with abuse and she suspected murder. She tried to avoid her parents, but it appeared his actions were finally catching up with him and they needed her to show the “perfect” family.
Her work and her parents made her immune to the threats she often received. But the arrival of Hawkin Wilder changed that. He might be the one at risk of dying from his injuries, but any threat to Harlow brought out his protective instincts.
Then there were the unexplained deaths. Was someone injecting a toxin? A mutated animal on the loose?
So many unanswered questions, Harlow knew they needed answers before time ran out for them.
Frost and Venom is a romantic suspense that gripped me from beginning to end. I was fascinated by Harlow's photography, although a bit creeped out by her closeness to the snakes and spiders. I was interested in learning about her family's history and seeing where that led. I loved the interaction with her friends, and it was obvious Frost and Venom is part of a series although it is billed as a standalone. There are significant spoilers (as in whodunnit) if you haven’t read the previous books.
