Stay For A Spell

Fantasy

Life as a princess wasn’t all fun and games. In fact, Princess Tanadelle of the Widdenmar found it boring, tiresome, and she plain didn’t like it. It was her duty to constantly travel, attend dedications, ribbon cuttings, and basically be the representative for the royal family.

It was during one such trip when she’d finished her most recent book that she spied a bookstore. She only had a few minutes, but from the moment she stepped into the store, she was enchanted. Books, books, and more books. Not just neatly shelved on the bookcases, but piled high in stacks. There was even a staircase certain to lead to even more books. The tentacled illusive cat was the perfect finishing touch.

After another dull formal dinner, Tandy returned to the amazing bookstore. She was thrilled to have a whole hour to roam the piles of books, but even though she had been taught to avoid them, she’d been cursed. Now she couldn’t leave the bookstore until she found her heart’s desire.

She might have loved the bookstore, but she hadn’t wanted to be unable to exit the bookstore. Tandy was determined to make the best of it until they found a way to break the curse. Her hope was that her parents would consult the greatest sorcerers and wizards. She feared they would follow the fairy tales and send princes to break the spell with a kiss.

In Stay For A Spell, Tandy has had a curse placed on her that many voracious readers might secretly want. From teetering piles of books, a resident illusive cat, and bluecaps that help you find what you want, the bookstore offers a nice haven for a reader. Only Tandy is now in a different type of prison. She might be making friends, with the teenage draconae and pirate with a curse of his own, but she wanted the curse broken. The worldbuilding is intriguing and I would definitely love to revisit to learn more of the residents, creatures, and curses.
