Atticus Gets a Mommy

Short Story in The Gift of Love Anthology

By Ann Christopher

Berkley Sensation - June 2010

Contemporary Romance

Eight authors coming together and providing short stories for an anthology. Eight short stories overflowing with romance. The Gift of Love is an anthology of eight romances written to support a charity.

Keenan Evans had accepted his life. He was an architect, had a sister he loved, had his best friend - who was also now his brother-in-law, and he had Atticus. Atticus was his service monkey, and the reason he had Atticus was why he had also accepted that he would never marry. He could never find love, or rather never allow a woman to love him.

Diana Barker needed to accept that. Unfortunately, she appeared to have done so, as she had brought a date to his sister's wedding. Who was that guy? He was definitely not the right man for Diana. Keenan could tell that just by looking at him. He was tall, muscular, and handsome. Nothing Keenan was anymore, as he sat in his wheelchair with withered legs. His arms and hands barely functioned. Keenan may not be able to give Diana what she needed, but neither would he allow her to throw herself at such a loser. He wanted only the best for her.

I was absolutely thrilled to learn that Ann Christopher was included in this anthology with a story entitled Atticus Gets a Mommy, for it meant that Keenan would be having his story. We had met Keenan in Atticus Saves Lisa which is one of the most moving stories I have ever read. Ann Christopher has once again delivered a poignant romance that will remain with readers. Keenan loves Diana. Diana loves Keenan. Should be simple, but life never is. Luckily, they have people who love them who help them in the right direction.

Included in The Gift of Love are: For the Love of Wendy by Lori Foster, Ava's Haven by Jules Bennett, Skin Deep by Heidi Betts, Atticus Gets a Mommy by Ann Christopher, The Redemption of Brodie Grant by Lisa Cooke, The Wolf Watcher's Diet by Paige Cuccaro, A Fairy Precious Love by Gia Dawn, and Second Time Around by HelenKay Dimon.
