The Memory Cabin
Short Story in Lilac Time Anthology
By Carolyn Brown
Kensington Books - Apr 2025
Contemporary Romance
Lilac Time Anthology consists of three stories each standing on its own. They are a women’s fiction short story Sweet as Honey by Fern Michaels, and two romance short stories, Everything She'd Ever Wanted by Lori Foster and The Memory Cabin by Carolyn Brown.
Jenna Stewart missed her mother, but felt closer to her as she now lived in her mother’s cabin at Lake Livingston. Grief of both the loss of her mother and marriage had sent her to counseling where she had made two friends. Each year, they met at the lake for friendship and bonding. It is also a time for healing and moving forward. But times change, and with that comes new opportunities.
Carson Makay's new job as a ranger was bittersweet. While he loved it, he was replacing his uncle who was retiring and his uncle and aunt were moving away. He was settling in and making friends. Jenna was one such friend, and soon he began to realize, something more.
The Memory Cabin was a story of renewal. Each character was facing changes in their lives and had to learn to embrace it, both the good and the bad. I enjoyed seeing a glimpse into their lives as Jenna and her friends reconnect. Then also as they urge her towards Carson. I suspect this may be in a series but it did stand on its own.
