Short Story in Animal Attraction Anthology

HQN - June 2013

Contemporary Romance

Four authors coming together and providing short stories for an anthology. Animal Attraction is an anthology of four romances written to support a charity.

Saige loved animals, and nothing - absolutely nothing - would prevent her from rescuing an animal in need. While she didn't mind watching Abel, and wouldn't mind getting a little closer to him, she didn't need an ex-cop with too much time on his hands poking into her business.

Being forced into early retirement didn't sit well with Abel. Instead, he focused all his energy on the physical therapy that hopefully meant he could recover enough for a possible position on the force in another town. He was doing quite well with that one track goal, until caring for his sister's pet cat and guinea pig derailed him and forced Saige into his life. Now he has choices he has to make. He wants the job, but he'll have to move away. He wants Saige, but he'd have to accept that the law doesn't exist when it interferes with her goals.

Partner In Crime was a touching romance of two individuals on opposite sides regarding the protection of animals. Although emotionally it is easy to understand why Saige does what she does, logically, it cannot be denied that it is dangerous, illegal, and risky to any future career she might wish to have. Never mind that once she helps an animal, another might find itself right where the one she rescued came from. I think it would have been better for her to be an Animal Cop. Her manner of rescue aside, I did enjoy watching as Abel used his skills to investigate what she was doing. They were both passionate about rescuing animals, and it was a pleasure watching them come together knowing that is what they would do from now on - together.

Included in Animal Attraction are: Buckhorn Ever After by Lori Foster, Imagine Me and You by Maisey Yates, Gimme Shelter by Heidi Betts and Partner in Crime by Jules Bennett
