Sweet Fantasy Romance
Her curse had struck again, and at the worst possible moment. Marya Santelyn had no control over when or where she had a prediction. When she does so in front of the High Priest, Divant, and everyone in the temple, she knew she had to escape. Her father would be able to wheedle a deal with them, and eventually, she would be able to return. Otherwise, if she was caught now, she would become a prisoner, kept at the temple to serve as seer at the whim of the Corvyn Monarchy.
Time. That was all she needed. A little time away for this episode to be forgotten. First, she needed to shed the guards chasing her. Luck was finally on her side when she spotted the Barbarian and asked him to take her away.
Tam Randene couldn't believe when a seer came to him needing aid. He was willing to be her protector and bring her to his camp. There she would be safe, could be trained to control her seer abilities, and his tribe could benefit from having a seer.
Marya might be told she wasn't a prisoner, but when she asked to be returned to her father, she was being denied. All the members of the tribe were kind to her, especially Tam, but she would keep herself ready for when the chance to escape presented itself.
Seer of the Wildwood was an adventure from beginning to end. The world building is extensive with characters who have fascinating abilities. Although Marya considered herself held against her will, the romance between her and Tam was complex and believable. I did have a difficult time understanding why she wanted to return considering the risk she faced. I enjoyed meeting the extensive members of the tribe and look forward to revisiting them again soon.
