Emily Diaz had left her life behind to start anew in Sagebrush, Texas. Although she missed her work as a midwife, she was more than willing to leave a lawsuit and resulting broken marriage behind. Instead, she worked as an obstetrical nurse practitioner at a family health center. It didn't allow her the thrill of seeing the babies born, but she was content.
Dr. Jared Madison needed help. As a single father, and doctor, he often relied on his mother or cousin for help with his twin daughters. Unfortunately, his mother had fallen, and required surgery and he couldn't contact his cousin. He turned to Emily for help.
Jared and Emily had recognized an attraction from the moment they met, but had steadfastly ignored it. This became more difficult the longer they spent time together away from the office. Soon they would have to make the decision whether or not they can trust each other.
The Midwife's Glass Slipper was another enjoyable read by Karen Rose Smith. Jared had walled himself off from people due to bitter secrets, and Emily had been hiding a secret that she feared could threaten everything. It was touching to see them overcome their pasts to find a future together. This was the second story in the Baby Experts series.
