Atonement Sky

Psy-Changeling Trinity Series - Book 9

By Nalini Singh

Berkley - July 2025

Paranormal Romance

The Psy-Changeling Trinity series, is a continuation of Nalini Singh's Psy-Changeling series. It is essentially the second story arc. For the most part, Atonement Sky does stand on its own, but new readers to this series might find starting with Silver Silence a good easy introduction into this world, although each story does contain spoilers to the previous story arc and characters. Accordingly, this review assumes that the reader has read the previous stories in Nalini Singh's Psy-Changeling series. Personally, I highly suggest reading the entire full series in order.

Time was running out.

Justice-Psy Eleri Dias had come to Raintree, Arizona hunting a serial killer. She was certain he was based here, and she needed to catch him before he abducted another. She knew it was only a matter of time before he struck again, and she was running out of time before she lost all shields. As a J-Psy, they were used until they were no longer useful, and she and three other J-Psy who had formed a pact were all approaching their expiration date. Soon, she could no longer keep out the noise of peoples' thoughts. Soon, she could no longer track and kill a killer.

But there was someone else in Raintree. Someone who she had met years ago, and her silence had broken the link that could have forged between them.

As WindHaven wing leader, Adam Garrett's loyalty was to his clan. Seeing the woman who had destroyed him years earlier, Adam's rage was still as palpable as it was then. But he would listen to her, verify what she said, and would assist in capturing the monster. And as he worked with Eleri, he began to understand the truth of the J-Psy. What they experienced. What they sacrificed. And the death sentence it was to be one.

The last was something Adam was not going to accept. Others had escaped Silence and the Psy-Net. He was determined there would be a way for Eleri as well.

Finally. I had been eager to read about a changeling bird clan for years, and Atonement Sky does not disappoint. I loved learning about the WindHaven clan, their relationship with the residents in Raintree, and seeing their understanding of recent world events. It was fun seeing their interactions with humans, psy and other changelings. It was fascinating to return to a character who is a J-Psy and learn more about how their lives are post-silence. Most of all, I enjoyed watching the healing of Adam and Eleri's relationship. Accepting and forgiving the past, and fighting for a future together.
