Crazy For the Cat

Short Story in Moon Fever Anthology

By Caridad Pineiro

Pocket - October 2007

Paranormal Romance

Jessica Morales had no intention of veering off the path she had started so many years before. She had dedicated her life to finding cures to illnesses, hoping that her own sister's death would not be in vain. Her search had led a co-worker to the South American jungles where he had died. Now, she planned on returning to the site in order to learn more about the plant he had discovered.

Javier Dias da Costa did not want Jessica to come to the village. He already felt guilt at the death of Victor, and he feared that more deaths would come. They were in a dispute with loggers who threatened the very species Jessica wanted to learn more about. But it is not just the science of nature that Jessica investigates. Soon, it is the science of the unexplainable that haunts her.

I really enjoyed reading Crazy for the Cat. Javier was simply a hero that I adored, especially as he tries to court Jessica in his cat form. Ms Pineiro has created a fascinating world of the "were" and I would love more. I look forward to more stories by this author.

Crazy for the Cat is a short story in the exciting paranormal anthology Moon Fever. Additional stories include Tempting Fate by Susan Sizemore, The Darkness Within by Maggie Shayne and Cobwebs Over the Moon by Lori Handeland.
