Pursued by the Rich Rancher is the second book in Catherine Mann's Diamonds in the Rough series. Although closely tied to the first story, One Good Cowboy, this one can be read on its own, or out of order.

Nina Lowery wasn't interested in cowboys, horses, or anything else having to do with that life. But finding out that it interested her son, Nina's priority quickly changed. She would involve them in anything that would help her son. His autism kept his verbal communication limited, but horses seemed to draw him out. When she discovered that she was able to get into a high demand special needs camp, she was thrilled for this opportunity for Cody. She had no intention of pursuing the attraction of one sexy cowboy she met.

Nina was the first woman to truly interest Alex McNair in quite awhile and he was excited to spend time with her during the week she was at the ranch. That was until he learned of his grandmother's test for him. With her illness, she was assigning tests to each of her three grandchildren. And his test? Convince a widow to sell back her son's shares of the McNair empire.

This was so not how he wanted to start a relationship.

Pursued by the Rich Rancher was a fun romance between a cowboy and a mother who had never understood the cowboy craze. I enjoyed watching as they shed those titles to become simply Alex and Nina. It was also touching to see Alex interact with Cody and see how being on the ranch was so helpful for him. I've read many stories of horse therapy, and it was nice to see it incorporated into a storyline.
