Women's Fiction
Sophie Bianco wanted out of her marriage, but financially wasn't ready. So she put on a brave face while her husband belittled her, and created a business in secret. The Invisible Baker helped stressed out women provide home baked goodies while nobody knew where they came from. Finally leaving her husband, but also losing her mother, Sophie had multiple headaches. Her lawyer husband could, and would, make their divorce as difficult and contentious as possible. She could live in her mother's home, with help from others as they cleaned it out, and made improvements.
With her husband messing with their accounts, Sophie needed immediate money. Her secret bakery was helping, and she also found work at a local French restaurant. The owner piqued her interest, but he was her boss, and she was technically still married. Still, overall things seemed to be improving, until a blogger wanted to uncover the secret of the Invisible Baker. Add in her very young daughter wanting to get married, and Sophie worried that the mistakes of both her and her mother's past were repeating.
Just Add Happiness was an enjoyable story of a woman finding new direction. I enjoyed seeing Sophie challenge herself and find her happiness. She also had a fun group of friends I’d love to know. I would have preferred the book started with her divorce, as I got annoyed with her for staying with the jerk. Also, I felt if she had been more honest throughout, a lot of her problems would not have been issues, and I didn't understand a few of her choices.
