Historical Romance
You love Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Think you know every nuance of the characters. Think again. This is a variation. A "but what if", or if you are fond of superhero movies... Pride and Prejudice Multiverse.
What if Georgiana Darcy had actually run away and married Wickham? This would have definitely upset her guardians, both her brother Fitzwilliam Darcy and his cousin Colonel Richard Fitzwilliam. Her brother would have focused on helping her heal her heartbreak when her husband abandoned her. Richard however, would be working undercover trying to prove who had put a price on Darcy's life.
So a plan is put into place. Richard would go with Charles Bingley and his siblings to Meryton. However, they were sworn to secrecy because Richard was pretending to be his cousin. He needed the spotlight to be on him to ensure word would circulate that his cousin was here. He wished to bring the danger here, while his two cousins were safely away.
Except Darcy had decided to bring Georgiana to Meryton to visit with Bingley. He hoped it would bring her out of her melancholy. What he didn't expect was to discover Richard pretending to be himself, and protraying him as a most unpleasant, pompous individual. To make matters even worse, upon arrival, Darcy himself was now thrust into the role of his cousin Richard.
Such is this variation of Pride and Prejudice where Mr Darcy pretending to be Richard finds the Bennet family, including Miss Elizabeth Bennet. There are similarities to the original but with fascinating twists. Ultimately, it is the romance between Miss Elizabeth Bennet and the true Mr Fitwilliam Darcy that is the heart of the story. Since I've only watched the shows, I cannot say how this compares to the book. However, I was thoroughly entertained and intrigued to see what Ms Hanford would come up next for our well-loved couple.
