Back to Buckhorn by Lori Foster

July 2014

Back to Buckhorn is the newest benefit novella by NYT Bestselling Author Lori Foster. It is available from HQN, and supports the AAF - Animal Adoption Foundation - a no-kill animal shelter in Hamilton, Ohio.

Each year, I look forward to reading the annual benefit novella organized by Lori Foster. It is always a pleasure to read a story that you know is at the same time helping others. In Back to Buckhorn, Ms Foster has returned to her Buckhorn Brothers series. This time it is Morgan and Misty's son, Garrett, who is finding his match. Click here for full review.

Lori graciously agreed to participate in my 3 Q&A.

1) What is it about the Buckhorn Brothers series that has had you return to write stories for the next generation?

Reader demand. :-) To this day I STILL get a high volume of correspondence from readers asking for more. It amazes me. When I initially wrote those stories 2000, I never dreamed readers would relate so strongly to them. It's pretty awesome. Deciding to continue the series with my "benefit books," where all proceeds go to a wonderful charity, made sense to me. I believe in paying it forward.

2) Do you anticipate returning to the next generation of any of your other series?

Weeeellll... maybe someday I'd like to get back to Visitation with Joe's kids and Jamie's daughter Cory. But that won't be happening any time soon!

3) In Back to Buckhorn, you hint to what I hope is the next story. When can we expect that?

My current plan is to do one each June to coincide with the Get Together. RAGT However, the "hint" in Back to Buckhorn is only that she will get a story, but I don't anticipate her being next. Sorry! (Yes, we're both talking about... - KRC removed name so no SPOILERS!!.) I'm not sure she's ready yet for her own story, but other Buckhorn characters are, so... we'll see where the muse takes me!

Thanks Lori... although that is not the answer I wanted for #3! I look forward to next year's book. As well as the Reader Author Get-Together.

As a prize this month, I have a "limited edition" signed print copy of Back to Buckhorn, and a Size L Dash of Peril TShirt. To be eligible, join my announcement loop by July 31.

The Power of Love, from Berkley Sensation, was released in 2008. It was written to support The Battered Women's Shelter of Cincinnati. This is quite an appropriate charity, as the stories focus on women overcoming various forms of abuse or neglect. I had the distinct pleasure of being able to read this anthology for review. At the Reader and Writer Get Together in Cincinnati, in addition to sharing a love of books, everyone participates in various fundraising efforts to support charities, including donated baskets. Since 2007, Lori has organized a book with a portion of the proceeds going to a charity. The first book was a cookbook with recipes turned in by authors and readers (myself included!). The title was The Write Ingredients and benefited the Troop Fund. The cookbook was published by Samhain Publishing as both print and an ebook.

I plan on having periodic "Recommended Reads" lists that will include books I recommend, as well as suggestions by visitors to this site. My Personal Disclaimer

Boy Meets Girl, They Fall in Love, and the two of them live Happily Ever After. This is the content for any book I believe is a true Romance Genre novel. The books that I recommend, or have reviews posted for will follow that format, unless I note otherwise. Granted we may know the outcome of a Romance Genre Novel, but it is the journey the characters take that is the reason we read these books. The Happily Ever After doesn't mean they're all vampires... Just means that the future is open to them, even if it is set 500 years in the past - we don't need to know their final chapter in life. At times I have have Recommend Reads by visitors to this site - I cannot guarantee that they meet my criteria for a Romance Genre Novel.
